What am I listening to: connecting last.fm
The bot does not listen to your player. It asks last.fm, and last.fm learns about the track from a "scrobbler" — a small program that watches what plays and reports it. So three things are needed: an account, a link to the bot, and a scrobbler.
Create a last.fm account
Sign up here: last.fm/join
You can see the username in your profile address — it is what follows /user/: https://www.last.fm/user/your-username
Tell the bot who you are on last.fm
Type this in the chat of a channel where the bot is present:
!link fm your-username
To check it, use !music
Install a scrobbler: Android
Pano Scrobbler works with any player that shows the track in notifications: Spotify, YouTube Music, and the rest. Besides Android there are Windows and Linux builds; there is no iPhone version.

- Install the app and open it.
- Grant notification access — the app offers it itself ("Grant notification access") and opens the right Android screen. Without it the app cannot see what is playing.
- Settings → Services → last.fm → Login. The username and password are entered on the last.fm site itself; the app does not store them.
- Settings → Scrobble from → Choose apps: tick your players. And make sure Submit now playing is on — without it only history leaves your phone, not "now playing", and the bot will say nothing is playing.

Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and YouTube Music can report tracks themselves. The link is made on the last.fm side: last.fm/settings/applications

If the bot says nothing is playing
Open your last.fm profile while listening: the playing track is first in the list and marked as playing right now. If it is not there, the problem is the scrobbler, not the bot. Common reasons:
- Notification access was not granted — the app says "Scrobbling disabled".
- Submit now playing is off: history piles up, but "now playing" never leaves.
- Battery saving puts the app to sleep. Xiaomi, Samsung and Huawei are especially eager: remove the restrictions for the app and add it to the "never sleeping apps" list.
- The player does not tell the system what is playing. That happens with homemade and old players — try another one.
